Bridgewater Associates was incorporated in a small home office inside a vintage horse barn (See the window? That was us!) in Bridgewater MA, by John Evers in 1970. There, he set out to develop a strategic offering of manufacturing services for New England based OEM companies. Back then, knocking on doors and big messy blueprints were the flavor of the day.
OEM companies needed a variety of mfg. services for the influx of products being created along the East Coast in the early 70’s. This was a very exciting time for manufacturing in the USA and New England was a mecca. Polaroid, Raytheon, Honeywell, Texas Instruments, and Wang were some of the big players early on. Bridgewater worked with many of these companies helping them source quality parts to develop their innovative and unique products.
As Bridgewater grew, it’s client base grew as well. Today we continually strive to service this growing list with services such as engineering assistance, online quoting and rapid prototyping, while making sure that our relationships with our customers remain one of our biggest assets. We continue to service new product designs not only in New England, but all over the US. Our group of manufacturers reflects this, and continues to be a strength for our company’s growth.
Our methods and styles may have changed since the 70's and 80's, but the people we've come to know though working in this industry will continue to be dear friends for the long haul.
This was the look to strive for when Bridgewater Associates was first incorporated. You could expect a visit from a handsome man in one of these "Mixables" with some great precision metal samples in the trunk of his Monte Carlo!
Giant blueprints, Rolodex, fax machines and electric typewriters. So much has changed, but tried and true honesty and loyalty remains a mainstay here at Bridgewater Associates!
